Flipkart: One of the leading e-commerce retailer Flipkart has made an entry into grocery delivery segment by launching its ‘Flipkart Nearby‘ app for grocery delivery.
The app has been released on Google’s Play Store over the weekend. However, as of now, the app offers its services to only a few areas of Bangalore – Koramangala, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Ejipura, Jayanagar, JP Nagar, and Bellandur.
This Flipkart Nearby app is not simply a grocery shopping app but it also serves as a shopping platform for several other products such as personal care products, baby care products, health and wellness products (sanitary napkins and condoms) as well as household supplies.
The app lists all the essential daily food items starting from fresh milk, bread, chips, chocolates and biscuits to other food products like fenugreek seeds, dal, jeera, elaichi, and chilli powder.
The app also lists snacks, yogurt, energy drinks as well as packaged mineral water. The service will also be delivering hot beverages including the ready-toeat- parothas.
Users will be allowed to place their orders on all days of the week via the Flipkart Nearby app. Delivery timings are from 10 AM to 8 PM. Additionally, there will be no shipping charges as a limited period offer. This is currently available only on Android platform and the app accepts payments only via cash-on-delivery method currently.
Amazon’s Kirana Now is other grocery delivery service which was launched in March in the country. Other players in the grocery delivery segment in India are PepperTap, Grofers, Bigbasket, and Ola Store.
