State government is planning revival of Kashmir’s indigenous apple variety Ambri by scaling up its production with modern methods of increasing yields.

“Steps should be taken to improve the scale of Ambri production by making the horticulturists aware about the market the fruit holds across the globe,” MoS Horticulture Priya Sethi today said, according to an official statement issued here. Sethi was chairing a review meeting of Horticulture Department here.

The minister, according the statement, stressed for improving the production of Ambri apple and said that the variety is the indigenous breed of Jammu Kashmir that holds special value among fruit growers and horticulturists across the world.
