BSNL to stop MMS from March 14
With smartphone messaging applications gaining popularity, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to shut down its multimedia messaging services (MMS) in South Zone from March 14.
BSNL spokesperson Vijaya said that the decision to permanently suspend the service was made, as it was not found to be economically viable to run the service. “MMS service required us to run an exclusive server in each zone.Customers now have many other options to share multimedia messages. Hence, we found that the service is no more warranted, which is why we are shutting down the service in South Zone,“ she said.
BSNL customers are being alerted on the suspension of the MMS services through text messages.
