Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will give away the prestigious Yash Bharti awards on October 27.
Highly placed sources told TOI that the process for the screening of the applicants was in its final stages and a list would be sent to the chief minister for his approval soon.
The award is perceived as the highest and most prestigious of the state. The awardees receive Rs 11 lakh cash and Rs 50,000 pension for life.
Last year, 52 eminent people were given the awards.
The chief minister wants to present the awards at the earliest as once the code of conduct is imposed for the 2017 assembly elections, he would not be able to give away the awards.
