Over 1.66 lakh students living in areas affected by floods in the state have registered online for class IX and XI exams in the additional time given by the Madhyamik Siksha Paridhad (UP Board). With this, the total number of students who have registered for the exams has gone up to 66.71lakh.
The last date of online registration was August 21, but after several requests from principals of schools marooned in floods, the date was extended till September 22. In the first phase, over 36.14 lakh students had applied for class IX exams while 29.20 lakh had applied for class XI. Thus, a total of 65.42 lakh had applied in both the classes. After it the second stage of online registration started for flood affected areas.
In the second stage, the number of class IX students increased to 37.32 lakh. The to tal number of class XI students went up to 29.86 lakh.Thus, a total of 7.01lakh applied in both the classes. The figure is contrary to the number of students registered for high school and intermediate exams-2017. In class X and XII, the number went down by over eight lakh compared to last year despite extension of 15 days for flood-affected students.
