Salman Khan, who is currently out on bail, was sentenced by a sessions court on 6th May 2015 on various counts, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the infamous 2002 hit and run case.
The court had earlier fixed the hearing of Salman’s appeal against conviction on a daily basis from 21st of September. The High Court had even rejected two applications attempting cancelation of Salman’s bail and improvement of 5-year of jail term awarded to him in the 2002 hit-and-run case. now the case will now recommence on 5th October 2015.
On 28th September 2002, Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving after his car ran into a bakery in Mumbai, one person who was sleeping on the footpath outside the bakery died and three others were injured in the accident. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him but later dropped. On 24th July 2013, he was formally charged with culpable homicide in the case by Bombay High court.
