To brand the possibilities, potentialities and prosperity of Assam, all banks must join hands with the government and ensure successful implementation of government flagship programmes for financial inclusion, said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while interacting with bankers at the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meeting held today at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara.
According to an official press release, Sonowal expressed satisfaction with the credit flow and said that banks must increase enrolment under the Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana, Suraksha Bima Yojana, MUDRA Loan, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana so that benefits under these schemes reach all in the State. He said around 1.25 lakh small tea growers are engaged in tea cultivation in the State and banks must focus on credit flow to this sector also
Reiterating his government’s commitment to strengthen the rural economy, Sonowal said a mega mission called Chief Minister’s Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY) has already been announced in the last Budget for the next five years.
