Hyderabad: A Muslims group from Barkas has called to people in their locations to avoid killing cows, bullocks and bulls in an effort to promote communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims.
A Muslims group from Barkas has called to people in their locations to avoid killing cows, bullocks and bulls in an effort to promote communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims.
The group called AGS(Arab Gourakshana Samithi) stop people from transporting relating animals and ask the killers to return the cows to their sellers. If they do not stick to the request, the group will inform the police about the incident.
Barkas in hyderabad is known for the markets that sell meat of buffaloes and cows. The area has an intresting history of its people coming from various tribes in Yemen. The AGS cow-protection group has claimed that 200 people have joined their source from around 25 tribes.
“We are working towards building a spirit of brotherhood among Muslims and Hindus. No nation can survive if there is a trust deficit between communities. The Hindus respect the cow and there is no harm if Muslims respect their feelings.” said president of AGS, Abdullah Bin Ali Bahameid.
Although, many Islamic experts have reportedly taken up a similar fight, the group is facing a comeback of it being allegedly backed by political parties like BJP and RSS. The group is being accused of keeping close relations with BJP’s Goshamahal legislator T Raja Singh which is famously known for his stance against slaughtering of cow.
