Indian Cricket Player Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Who made his debut in ODI in December 2004 played against Bangladesh, he made numerous captaincy records, He has given the captain of Indian team in the ICC World Twenty20 which is held in Sep 2007 in South Africa.
Dhoni moved to the supreme court against the Karnataka HC case which is lodged on him in posing a lord Vishnu a Hindu God on a magazine cover page.
Karnataka High Court added, “A celebrity and a cricketer like Dhoni should know the consequences of hurting religious sentiments of people. He should have known the consequences of doing such ads.”
This case was filed on Dhoni by social activist Jayakumar Hiremath, saying that Dhoni is holding many things and shoes in a hand.
HC mentioned, “These celebrities are only signing ads without any responsibility. Their aim is to earn easy money without considering the problems it may create.”
“Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) had registered a case against Dhoni under section 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) along with 34 of the IPC.”
The petition termed the criminal complaint a frivolous one, lodged to harass him. He said neither did he pose for the photograph published nor was his permission sought before his face was used in the publication. He asked how he can be accused of an offence which he had neither intention nor knowledge about. He has sought a stay of the trial proceedings and the High Court order till the matter is finally decided by the apex court.
