Jazbaa box office collections: With an occupancy rate of 35%, the film is already limping. This Friday’s release has a lot riding on it – the reputations of a lot of top-notch stars and filmmakers. Aishwarya Rai is back after a 5-year lay-off and Irffan is looking for a face-saver as his recent release Talvar had bombed at the BO.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s is back after a hiatus with Jazbaa, whose box office collections have a lot of expectations riding on them. On day 1, the occupancy rate has not exactly been overwhelming. In fact, far from it.
Jazbaa recorded an occupancy rate of just 35% during morning shows, which is way behind runaway winner of last week, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Singh Is Bliing’ at 80%.
When that is translated into collections for Jazbaa, surely, there will be a lot of long faces among the filmmakers and the cast. The movie, that also features Irrfan Khan, has not gone down well with audiences. Reviews had in fact praised Irrfan’s performance while that of Aishwarya Rai did not elicit much praise.
Having said, it is still early days and with the weekend virtually upon us, the takings will improve if the film manages to get a word-of-mouth boost.
The Sanjay Gupta directed film does face competition from Hollywood release The Walk that has been receiving glowing reviews overseas. In fact, despite The Walk, which is featuring limited morning shows, has garnered a 30% occupancy rate. The other English release Pan, that features Huge Jackman, is expected to be a slow earner.
