Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Son Arrested: The son of former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi was arrested by police with more than 4 lakh rupees cash.
The former Chief minister of Bihar Jitan Ram Manjhi’s son has been arrested by Bihar police for carrying Rs 4.65 lakh in cash ahead of Bihar Assembly polls.
According to the sources the younger son of former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was arrested after discovering Rs. 4.65 lakh in cash while checking vehicles at a checkpoint at Maqdumpur police station in Jehanabad District.
The arrest of Praveen Manjhi gained importance in the wake of Bihar assembly elections which were scheduled to be held in October. The police officials has arranged check points in order to crack down on the use of unaccounted cash in election time.
A person should not carry more than Rs 50000 in cash with out proper explanation.
Praveen Manjhi is currently being questioned by police officers. In case if he does not give a satisfactory reason along with proofs the cash will be handed over to the income tax authorities.
Jitan Ram Manjhi is the president of Hindustan Awami Morcha, a member of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. He has resigned as the member of legislative assembly on Tuesday.
He had formed the party this year after leaving the Janata Dal United in the wake of a long-drawn clash with Nitish Kumar over the Chief Minister’s post.
The party members has accused saying that the ruling JD(U) government is giving trouble to the Manjhi family and asked the Election Commission should investigate that Manjhi’s family is being troubled by the government.
One of the senior party member defended that Praveen was carrying cash in order to make payment to a contractor who has undertook construction work at his residence.
