Man Dies After Being Tortured By Police: A 34 year old man died in mysterious circumstances in a Police Van on Monday in Northeast Delhi.
A 34 year old man who was out on Parole died after he was allegedly assaulted and tortured by police in Northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri area.
According to the sources a man identified as Shanawaz Chaudhary who was listed as a abd charcater was out on Parole. He was going with his wife Mamta from Sunder Nagari to meet his sister-in-law who was suffering from dengue and was admitted in a local hospital.
He stopped his vehicle when he found one of his acquaintance identified as Shamshad and his Farhaa quarelling near Gagan Cinema theatre. A police control room van was already there at the spot as Farhaa informed them that she was tortured by her husband alleging domestic violence.
Shanawaz’s wife Mamata said that her husband intervened in the issue and said that it could be solved without the involvement of police. The officers who were present there were annoyed by his statement got into an argument with her husband and slapped him and also pushed him into a PCR van and started beating him.
Later the officers took her and her husband to Nand Nagri Police Station and asked Mamata to get down from the van and took Shahnawaz to hospital and was declared brought dead.
But the officers denied the statements of Mamta saying that Chaudhary has abused the cops when they asked him not to intervene in the issue. JCP (Eastern Range) Sanjay Beniwal told that Chaudhary was drunk at the time of incident and denying the allegations of Mamata that he was beaten up by police.
Meanwhile Chaudhary’s family protested at the hospital and the police station demanding an FIR against the cops who assaulted Chaudhary and also blocked the roads and pelted stones and even tried to set on fire three buses following which police used tear gas to control them.
