Budget device with good specs, excellent display
Display and Configuration
Micromax’s new baby comes with a 4.5 inches HWVGA (480 x 854 pixels resolution) TFT display, having 16M colour depth for an excellent visual experience. The device runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Processing power on the A40 is decent thanks to the 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM that the company has provided this device.
Camera and Storage
The 2MP camera on the device is capable of clicking fast and smooth photos. A 0.3MP front camera has also been provided to ensure video chatting, Skype, etc. The internal storage of 512MB is sufficient to store the average user’s apps and their data. User memory can be expanded using microSD card, up to a limit of 32GB.
Connectivity and Battery
The Bolt A40 ensures that you’re never out of touch with your loved ones, since it comes with all the connectivity options one can expect in this price range, including Dual SIM, GPRS, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB connectivity. A 1500mAh battery ensures that the device can provide 4.5 hours of talktime and up to 175 hours of standby.
Micromax has again succeeded in ensuring that one gets good specs in the budget range, be it processing power, connectivity options or battery. However, what really sets this device head and shoulders above its competitors is the display, which at 4.5 inches is worthy of being on a high-end device. On the other hand, it is disappointing to see Micromax sticking to the slightly outdated Gingerbread OS. Yet for those who do not need the latest Android, this device has everything one can hope for in a budget device.
