Display and design
The Micromax Canvas Win W092 is one among the first Windows Phone OS powered mobile phones manufactured by an Indian brand. It features a 4-inch IPS display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The device is pretty lightweight and can be operated with single hand easily. However, the design doesnÂt have a premium feel and is also prone to smudges thanks to its plastic body and glossy finish.
UI and configuration
The Canvas Win W092 runs Windows Phone 8.1, again making it one of the first devices (after Nokia Lumia 630) to run the latest iteration of Windows Phone operating system. However, itÂs worth mentioning that the device is loaded with almost stock version of OS. This could be a disadvantage as WP phones from Nokia come with a range of useful Nokia exclusive pre-loaded apps.
The Canvas Win W092 is based on the Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) for Windows Phone devices, which ensures that the device offers a smooth operation. It derives processing power from a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 quad-core chipset from Qualcomm, accompanied by 1GB of RAM.
Camera and storage
The Micromax Canvas Win W092 packs a 5MP primary camera with LED flash, which can leave you unsatisfied due to its fixed-focus feature. A 0.3MP front shooter is also provided to facilitate video calling. It comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, out of which around 4.5GB is available to users. You can also add up to 32GB of external memory using a microSD card.
Connectivity and battery
The Micromax Canvas Win W092 is a dual-SIM device with support to 3G only on the primary SIM slot. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS. The device is fuelled by a 1,500mAh user-replaceable battery.
Cost effectivity certainly makes the Micromax Canvas W092 a tempting device for the folks looking to ditch Android. Besides the fresh OS, you get a Snapdragon chipset powered 3G smartphone with many features giving it an edge over similarly priced Nokia Lumia devices. Although, the cheap looking design could be dealt with an additional back or flip cover, but you miss the bundle of useful Nokia exclusive apps here.
