On Tuesday, the Redmond giant Microsoft has launched its first 4G LTE phone Lumia 640XL here at an event in Chennai.
The Lumia 640XL smartphone with 4G capability sports a 5.7 inches HD display, quad-core processor and integrated Microsoft services. This smartphone will be upgradable to Windows 10 on mobile when it is available in November.
This smartphone has dual sim capablity and offers 1 GB memory powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which runs at 1.2GHz. Lumia 640XL has a 3000 mAh battery and comes with a 5 MP front and 13MP main camera.
Lumia 640XL will come bundled with an offer from Airtel where users will be able to double their data with nos cost at all. Lumia 640XL will be available across India at Rs 17,399.
TS Sridhar, Speaking at the launch, who is the director of Microsoft Mobile Devices, said, “India is poised to be one of the leading 4G markets in the world owing to the exponential growth of smartphones and the growing access to Internet. Lumia 640XL LTE is a power packed smartphone that offers a great productivity package with the power of 4G.”
The company has filed a patent for a multi-OS mobile which would come with multiple OS out of which consumers will have the liberty to pick their favourite.
What it means that a multi-OS smartphone would enable the Microsoft to run a Windows software on an Android mobile.
After the consumer chooses a particular software out of the compressed platforms, OS that are remained will be removed. Functionality will be in the same manner boot loader works.
