The latest WhatsApp update for Android introduces a good load of bug fixes and improvements to the popular instant messaging app. However, it also brings along something that was earlier restricted to closed quarters of internet FAQs. We are talking about the ‘secret’ middle finger emoji.
Yes, the latest update for Android seems to have added the middle finger emoji by default (as also offering it in several colours as is the new trend) to the app.
The new version will replace your previous version and you’ll be good to go right where you left. Only this time you’ll have a fresh stock of emojis including the new middle finger as well.
That said, there’s also a manual way to add the middle finger emoji to your WhatsApp messenger.
There are two ways by which you can get the emoji on your phone.
–One is if someone who has the emoji working on their phone sends it to you.
–Secondly, you can head over to Emojipedia and manually copy and paste the emoji to your phone.
Once you have the emoji on your phone, you’ll have to create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For this you’ll need to head over to your phone’s language and input settings. From there open your default keyboard settings and head over to text shortcuts.
Simply paste the emoji in the shortcut space and add an expanded phrase to it. Save and open WhatsApp.
Next time you WhatsApp someone, you’ll have the shortcut at your beck and call. Typing in the expanded phrase will add the middle finger emoji to your chat.
That’s it, next time you want to give someone the finger, well, WhatsApp has that covered for you. Peace!
