Former Miss Romania Diana Dinu, 25, hit carriage after ‘drunk’ cart driver pulled out into her path. Four passengers in the cart including a five-year-old girl died while four others are in a critical condition. Miss Dinu was unharmed along with her three passengers
According to police, Diana Dinu smashed into the carriage when it suddenly pulled out into her path near Haret in Eastern Romania’s Vrancea County. Four people in the cart including a five-year-old girl died while four others are in a critical condition in hospital. Three of the dead victims were from the same family.
Miss Dinu, who was driving an Audi, was unharmed along with her three passengers who are understood to be her friends. They were named as Dorel Constantin, 52, Corina Constantin, 42, Gabriela Constantin, 5, and Cosmin Rinza, 26.
Police say the driver of the cart, Marian Batoaga, 46, was drunk and had pulled out into the road without checking if there was anything coming. Officers said, Miss Dinu was unable to avoid the impact and hit the wooden cart head-on near Haret, in Eastern Romania’s Vrancea County.
County Police spokesman Adrian Huzum said the driver of the cart could face charges for being drunk and irresponsible for the accident and an investigation has since been launched.
Miss Dinu, who was voted Miss Globe Romania 2014, will represent her country in the final stage of the modeling competition this November in Turkey.
