Industrialist Mukesh Ambani, despite a dip of USD 4.7 billion in one year, was today named richest man in India for ninth year in a row with a net worth of USD 18.9 billion, on the other hand e-commerce giant Flipkart’s founders for the first time came on the country’s top 100 rich list of the Forbes magazine.
As per Forbes latest list released on Wednesday, Mr Ambani was followed by Sun Pharma’s Dilip Shanghvi as second richest with a net worth of USD 18 billion, and tech icon Azim Premji, Wipro chairman retained his third place with USD 15.9 billion.
According to Forbes the combined wealth of India’s 100 richest people remained mainly same at USD 345 billion, when compared to USD 346 billion last year.
Forbes said the economy of India was estimated to grow at 7 % in 2015, howevr, the wealth of many of India’s 100 richest have gone low due to depreciation in rupee value and decline in the stock markets over the past one year.
At least 10 of the richest Indian saw their net worth dip by over USD 1 billion each in from last year, that includes Lakshmi Mittal, as his net worth dipped to USD 4.6 billion (ranked 8th with USD 11.2 billion)
Forbes list saw as many as 12 debutant including low-cost airline IndiGo’s co-founder Rakesh Gangwal and Flipkart’s founders and who has debuted at 70th position with a net worth of USD 1.6 billion.
