Chinese mobile maker OnePlus which has tasted decent success in India with its OnePlus 1 and OnePlus 2 smartphones is now planning to launch a low-priced smartphone in the country by the end of 2015.
OnePlus is planning its First step into the ‘Low-Priced’ segment in a bid to grow sizes, and will support the move by starting its own full-fledged e-commerce website next year.
The price of the new device would be kept between. Rs 12,000 and Rs 20,000 which means it would be suggested into a category that forms part of the Low-priced range Rs 8,000 to Rs 15,000 which is the most competitive and little in India.
It is also a category where a large part of the volume sales happen in India. Currently, OnePlus Smartphones start from Rs 20,000. few days back we heard about O
Vikas Agarwal, general manager of OnePlus India said, “We are introducing a new device by the end of this year. Diwali would be the ideal time, but next quarter for sure.”
At present, OnePlus has an India portal which directs consumers to Flipkart and Amazon, where consumers can purchase the OnePlus Devices by using invites. But if the new ecommerce plans take shape, the company could allow consumers to buy the devices from its own site also.
Agarwal said The new phone will be more of a lifestyle and fashion product than a flagship device and it will be more towards the mass market.
