Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to lay the foundation stone for the much awaited Ambedkar Memorial on October 4.
The foundation stone for the Ambedkar Memorial is going to be laid down by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on October 4.
According to the sources the Maharashtra government is all set for the announcement of laying the foundation stone for a memorial of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar who was well known as the chief architect of the Indian constitution by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 4.
Due to the foreign visits of PM Modi and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis the foundation ceremony was postponed from April 14 to October 4. The ceremony was earlier scheduled on April 14, 2014 on the eve of the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.
It is reported that the PM will attend a function of Bohra community in Mumbai on October 4 besides laying foundation of Ambedkar memorial.
The memorial will come up on the 12.5 acres of land in the Indu Mills complex on the banks of the Arabian Sea at Dadar Chowpatty. The plot is situated next to Chaityabhoomi in Dadar, where Ambedkar’s last rites were performed on December 7, 1956.
It is one of the major programmes of the BJP govt. The project of laying Ambedkar memorial was proposed by Congress -NCP govt but didn’t progress further till the BJP came to power.
However the Maharashtra Govt has started its preparations for the ceremony to make it a grand success. Speaking on the occasion finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said ” The date will be announced after Prime Minister’s clearance. But the date for the ambitious Ambedkar Memorial project’s ‘bhumi pujan’ has been fixed for October 4 tentatively.”
