PMPML has been consistently earning record earnings by way of bus fares on this day. The earnings reach up to Rs 1.9 crore as against the daily average earning of Rs 1.6 crore. Additional staff is deployed at all major bus stops and terminals to ensure that buses ply as per schedule.
Appreciating the efforts, the PMP Pravasi Manch said the transport utility should be able to transport 16 lakh passengers daily and earn a revenue of Rs 2.5 lakh. For this, special efforts such as proper maintenance of buses, availability of spare parts, and infrastructure at bus depots are required.
Convener of PMP Pravasi Manch Jugal Rathi said buses with good condition should only ply on Saturday. Ten squads should be ready for urgent repairs of buses. Similarly, police and PMPML staff should ensure that there are no encroachments around bus terminals and major bus stops.
In the last one month, there have been five fatal accidents involving PMPML buses, the manch said. It is necessary that no accidents involving PMPML buses should occur. Senior staff members and officials should travel in buses to ensure smooth operations, the manch said.
