Punjab BJP president and Union minister for state for social justice and empowerment Vijay Sampla revealed that the state government had released only Rs 44 crore of the Rs 173 crore sent by the Centre for the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. He asked Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa to release the pending amount at the earliest.
“I checked with Punjab secretary for scheduled caste and backward classes welfare department, and I was told that Rs 44 crore had been released. The Union government had given Rs 173 crore two months ago and then I also took up the issue with finance minister Dhindsa to release rest of the money at the earliest,“ Sampla said while responding queries during an interaction with media here on Friday.
