Ticket refund :
Emirates is refunding the ticket amount paid by passengers of its ill-fated Thiruvananthapuram-Dubai flight that crash-landed at Dubai airport last Wednesday .The airline also said it is offering “financial assistance“ to the 282 passengers on board that flight, of which 226 were Indians.
An Emirates spokesperson said: “We remain in contact with the passengers and can confirm that Emirates has offered financial assistance to meet their immediate needs. This includes support for their lost baggage items, as access to the aircraft is still highly restricted while investigations are underway , as well as medical expenses and other incidental expenditures. We are also refunding their tickets.“
The airline did not specify the compensation amount. Emirates got a lot of flak when after the accident they did not set up a helpline in India despite the fact that over 80% passengers on board that flight were Indians. Finally, aviation minister A G Raju had to ask Emirates to set up a helpline in India several hours after the crash.
