Of 6,596 students who had applied for a seat in first year junior college (FYJC) after clearing the SSC re-exam in July , 32 were not allotted a seat in the merit list announced on Wednesday . The special admission round aimed at giving repeaters a second chance without losing an academic year.
Those allotted a seat will be able to secure admission on September 16 and 17.
Deputy director of education for Mumbai, BB Chavan, said that the 32 students who could not be allotted a seat, will be called to the education department’s office. “They can fill up admission forms online once more and will be given a chance to fill in the option forms and will be given admission against vacancies,“ said Chavan.
Owing to the delay in ending the admission process, members of Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena have demanded that the first semester exam be held only after the Diwali vacation.
