Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 will be the main release of the week and is a sequel of the 2011 film Pyaar Ka Punchnama which did not do too well but trended well and had an eight week run. The final business was 12.50 crore nett apprx. Due to the trend of the first film, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 may hold some appeal for the youth.
The film has no face value and the music is not a hit so is basically trying to ride on the brand of the first film but only the first day collections will tell if there is any recall value of the Pyaar Ka Punchnama brand. Another reason it has a chance is that its targeted at the Delhi NCR Punjab multiplexes which form a major chunk of the multiplex business.
If it connects in this area, (Delhi NCR Punjab) it is large enough to see it through as its not a big budget film which needs all India appreciation.There a few other releases this week like Chinaar Daastaant E Ishq, Hogaya Dimaag Ka Dahi and Weddding Pullav but these look non starters and does not look like they have much chance to compete with Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2.
