The medical education department has come out with rules for recruiting assistant professors, associate professors and professors for upcoming eight medical colleges in the state. The medical health department has made provisions for recruiting retired faculty till they the age of 70.They will draw full salaries.

Health minister Rajendra Rathore said that recruitment in medical colleges will be made as per the norms of Medical Council of India (MCI). He said that those doctors in medical colleges who have completed 10 years of service will get lateral entry as associate professors in the upcoming medical colleges.Moreover, those who have completed 18 years of service as doctors in medical colleges will be offered the post of professor.At present, on urgent basis, the medical education department will recruit assistant professors who have four years of experience as associate professor on temporary basis.

The medical education department is taking all possible measures to fill the posts in the upcoming medical colleges. Officials said that by December, they would fill the posts in the new medical colleges as Medical Council of India would visit new medical colleges to review the preparations. The medical education department is aiming to complete the first phase of setting up new medical colleges by December as per MCI norms. A Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RMES) has been formed on the lines of Jhalawar Medical College, to recruit medical faculties and other staff in the medical college. Jhalawar Hospital and Medical College Societyis operating the medical college.
