33% Reservation For Women In Paramilitary Forces: The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that a 33% reservation should be there for women in paramilitary forces.
The Central Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that a 33% of reservation in the Paramilitary forces must be allowed to women including Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
He said that women will be recruited by providing a 33 % of reservation to them in all the Para military forces when he attended the passing out parade with 66 assistant commandants and 459 sub-inspectorsat National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) which is a premier training centre of CISF.
He said while addressing the gathering that after taking charge of the home ministry, I sent circulars to Union Territories that participation of women in security forces should be 33 per cent as the participation of women in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is 5.04 per cent which is very less.
The minister also presented trophies for those who stood best in various categories like shooting and indoor training.
Rajnath Singh said that there is a need to increase the number of women personnel upto one-third of the overall strength of the force.
Rajnath Singh also stressed the importance of reducing the cyber crimes and asked the CISF, which is actively involved in the developmental activities at the areas affected by left-wing extremism, to also try to reduce the crime.
Cyber crime is one of the major threat to the country in the recent days and it should be controlled, he said.
He also said that steps have been taken to increase the present head count of the force from 1.36 lakh to the estimated 2 lakh.
CISF protects airports, seaports, historical structures and other important places. The assistant commandants,and sub-inspectors were imparted skills in jungle warfare, urban tactics, industrial security management, aviation security and disaster management during their training period.
