Hardik Patel Suspends Reverse Dandi March: Patidar Agitation leader called off the reverse Dandi March scheduled earlier as the Gujarat Govt invited him for talks about Patel’s quota issue.
Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel back tracked the earlier scheduled Reverse Dandi March which was on Sunday from Dandi in Navsari to Sabarmati in Ahmedabad demanding reservations under OBC quota as the chief minister of Gujarat Anandiben Patel agreed to hold talks with him on Monday.
The decision was confirmed by Gujarat Finance Minister Saurabh Patel on Saturday night who has mediated between PAAS and the state Govt to hold talks.
The deadlock between the Patidar’s and state Govt has been resolved after a long wait of 70 days.
According to the sources A special package to Patel’s have been agreed by the state Govt which was given to Gurjars in Rajasthan recently. Besides the special package to Patels, the govt also likely to facilitate a fund of Rs. 750 crores for education of economically backward people belonging to all the communities in Gujarat.
Also the Govt has agreed to lift all the cases booked against Patidars lodged during the mega Patel rally in August.
A mega rally has been held by the Patel community demanding reservations for Patel’s under OBC quota last month in Ahmedabad has witnessed many incidents of violence in the state leading to the death of 10 persons including a policeman as dozens of incidents of group clashes took place between the police and the Patel community.
Nearly 300 public transport buses were torched by the rioters, government properties of the state Govt has been vandalized and Internet services were banned for almost a week, disrupting the mobile based banking activities, online shopping and payment and credit card based transactions.
