Ringing Bells Private Limited, established on the 16th of September 2015, is a company in India that claims to sell a 3G smartphone with Android 5.1, a 4-inch display, a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage at a promotional price of just Rs. 251 (INR251) (later, the price is meant to be Rs. 500). That would make it the world’s cheapest smartphone. Model Freedom251 purchased now will be delivered (at additional cost of Rs. 40) in June 2016. Sales are limited to the customers in India.
The manufacturing cost is estimated to be in the range of Rs. 2500, and it is unclear how the price Rs. 251 was arrived at.
The special website devoted to selling the product (it is not listed on the Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd official website) went down after sales of around 30,000 units
