rudhramadevi 10 days collections : 34 cr
Anuskha Shetty’s “Rudhramadevi” (Rudramadevi) has continued do well at the US box office and topped the business charts again in its second weekend, but has failed to cross the $1-million mark in 10 days.
Released in 135 screens in the country, “Rudhramadevi” opened to a good response and showed decent growth on the following days. The movie collected $7,19,529 (Rs 4.66 crore) at the US box office in its opening weekend. But later, during the weekdays, the film saw a steep decline and could add $99,744 to take its first week collection to $8,19,273.
Some in film nagar predicted that “Rudhramadevi” would surpass $1 million in its second weekend. But “Bruce Lee”, which released in over 220 screens in the country, spoiled its chances. The Gunasekhar-directed film was forced out of over 65% theatres that it was holding on during its opening following the release of the Ram Charan starrer.
Besides, “Rudhramadevi” also clashed with new Bollywood release “Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2”, which was released in over 49 cinema halls in the country. Despite clashing with these two films and “Jazbaa”, the film remained rock-steady at the ticket counters and did decent collection in the second weekend.
“Rudhramadevi” collected $84,480 from 54 screens at the US box office in its second weekend. Its 10-day US total collection stands at $903,753 (Rs 5.85 crore). Its per-screen average is $1564. The movie has topped the US collection charts for Indian movies, beating “Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2” and “Jazbaa”, which collected $84,349 and $39,859, respectively, this weekend.
The Anushka Shetty starrer needs $96,247 to cross the $1-million mark. When considered its current pace of collection, the movie may need another week to reach this milestone. But from this Thursday, “Rudhramadevi” will clash with new release “Kanche”, which is sure to snatch away some screens from it and also impact its business in its third week.
