Central varsity to uplift 5 villages
The Central University of Orissa (CUO) at Landiguda in Koraput district has adopted five villages near Sunabeda, where its permanent campus is coming up, for their socio-economic development.
Officials said the villages were adopted under the programme ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by the Centre to uplift rural India.
“The varsity will concentrate on strengthening education, healthcare, adult literacy, sanitation and skill development in the adopted villages,” said Sachidananda Mohanty, vice-chancellor (VC) of CUO, while launching the programme at Chikapar village on Friday.
Apart from Chikapar, the varsity has adopted Chakarliput, Rajpalama, Balda and Nuaguda villages.
