With an aim to ensure senior citizens social security, health care, food, shelter, recreation and other welfare services to elderly persons in the state, Odisha government unveiled Senior Citizens Poliy-2016 on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons here on Saturday. Apart from basic facilities and services, the state policy gave emphasis on geriatric care and counselling services, day care centres for the elderly.
“The policy will address the concerns of senior citizens in a holistic and equitable manner. In this policy, the emphasis has been given on health care, security, housing and emotional needs of the senior citizens,” said chief minister Naveen Patnaik after launching the policy.
