IMD predicts rainfall till July 9 in Odisha
With rains reported at most places in the northen and southern parts of Odisha due to a low pressure area over south Bihar and neighbourhood, the IMD today predicted rainfall activities in state till July 9.
The low pressure area over Jharkhand and adjoining Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal now lies over south Bihar and neighbourhood.
The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends upto mid-tropospheric levels, a bulletin issued by the IMD said while forecasting heavy rainfall at one or two places over North Odisha in next 24 hours.
The impact of the system will ensure gusty surface wind from South-westerly direction with speed reaching 45- 55KMPH to 65 KMPH to lash along and off Odisha coast.
Sea conditions would be rough to very rough, it said adding that the fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
Maximum rainfall recorded in centimetres included Balisankara (dist Sundargarh) 10, Hemgiri (dist Sundargarh) 5, Bargaon (Sundargarh) 4, Swam-patna (Keonjhar) 4, Jharsuguda (Jharsuguda) 4, Tensa (Sundargarh) 4, Telkoi (Keonjhar) 3, Sundargarh (Sundargarh) 3, Karanjia (Mayurbhanj) 3, Mandira Dam (Sundargarh) 3, Lahunipara (Sundargarh) 2 and some other places.
The highest maximum temperature of 34 degree celsius and the lowest minimum temperature of 20 degree celsius were recorded at Sundergarh.
