Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has decided to increase learning hours from 80 periods to 240 periods per subject a year for Plus Two classes soon. Fewer learning hours has been one of the reasons for not very good results in plus two over the years, said school and mass education secretary Ranjana Chopra.
“Number of teaching and learning hours has a direct impact on the result of students in Plus two. When students of class XI and XII in schools are attending 240 classes per subject a year our students are getting only 80 classes. So a yardstick of number of classes as per the new curriculum has to be decided by the council soon,” said Chopra speaking on the 34 thfoundation day of the council here on Wednesday.
