The state government has decided to identify children with special needs in secondary schools and provide them aids as per their need. A teacher each from 6000 secondary schools will be trained to identify various kinds of disabilities among students, official sources said.
“‘The Centre has provided rupees three crore under Inclusive Education for the Disabled at Secondary Stage (IEDSS) to the state government. Though the scheme has been implemented in primary schools, this year onwards high schools too will be included in it. The teachers will be imparted basic training on various health ailments,” said director secondary education, Ratnakar Rout.
