Santhanam is serious about expanding his horizons as a leading man. So far, the actor’s films as a hero were comedy-based ones. While he is currently making an out-and-out horror film with Ram Bala of Lollu Sabha fame, he has now signed on a film that will be far removed from his usual ones.
The untitled film is to be directed by newcomer Anand Balki, who has acted (a minor role) in Mani Ratnam’s Aayitha Ezhuthu, and is backed by the same person who produced Thirudan Police and the upcoming Oru Naal Koothu. Says Selvakumar, “It will not be your regular Santhanam film. It has a different concept that will be a first for Tamil cinema. I’m sure this film will take Santhanam to the next level.“ The actor will also have action scenes, though Selva says that they not be like what we see in masala films.
The film will have a second male lead, too, but the team is yet to finalise an actor for this role as well as for the leading lady . Interestingly, Santhosh Narayanan, who is busy with Rajinikanth’s Kabali and Vijay’s film with Bharathan, has agreed to score the music for this film as he loved the script.
The film is expected to go on floor by February 2016 with a 60-day shoot schedule that will take base itself in Chennai, Goa and Dubai.
