The SC today once again rejected the bail plea of AAP MLA Somnath Bharti and asked him to surrender before police today.
The Supreme Court today has directed AAP MLA Somnath Bharti who was facing the charges of domestic violence to surrender before the police. The court directed Bharti to surrender by evening.
The bail plea that was filed by AAP MLA Somnath Bharti which was heard by Supreme Court today. Rejecting the bail plea of Somnath Bharti, the court asked him to surrender before police.
The court said that the next hearing will be held on October 1 only if Somnath Bharti surrender to police.
Somnath Bharti was evading arrest from police frequently by saying that he is a professional criminal and changing his numbers and address frequently.
The police has raided on multiple locations to find out Somnath Bharti’s hideout earlier this week in Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. The officials caught the pet dog of Bharti from his residence at Malviya Nagar which is said to be attacked on Bharti’s wife Lipika Mitra.
Somnath Bharti was facing the charges of domestic violence after his wife Lipika Mitra filed an complaint of Domestic violence with Delhi commission for Women saying that he was abusing her since the day of their marriage. She also alleged that Bharti had torchered her and tried to kill her.
The allegations made by Lipika include harassment dowry, attempt to murder of Lipika Bharti and her unborn child, torturing by having dogs chase her and cheating by making false claims prior to marriage.
Joint Commissioner of Police (South-West), Dependra Pathak said that the leader has been booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 498(a)(cruelty towards partner in marriage) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of Indian Penal Code.
