The Bhartiya Janata Party appears set to win a majority in the Surat Municipal Corporation results 2015.
As per the latest updates, BJP is leading/won on 52 seats. The Indian National Congress is second at 33 seats.
While there are 38 election wards under the corporation, the number of councillors stands at 114.
The BJP is doing equally in most of the other big corporations like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Ananad.
Surat Municipal Corporation came into being in 1966 under the provisions of the Bombay Provincial Municipal Act, 1949.
