Amma Baby Care Kit Scheme: The chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa has launched a scheme called ‘Amma Baby Care Kit’.
The AIADMK Suprem and the CM of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa Yesterday launched a new scheme across the state called ‘Amma Baby Care Kit’. The Government will provide the necessary accessories which were meant for new born child and its mother through this scheme.
Babies who were born in government hospitals will be receiving the kit worth Rs. 1,000 in which 16 items including a dress, mosquito net, soap, shampoo, hand santiser, baby rattle, nail clipper, baby oil, bed, a doll and other necessary accessories.
The kit will also contain a locally made medicine for the mother besides a box to store essentials meant for the newborn.
The scheme has been launched by Jayalalithaa by giving away the kit to five mothers in a symbolic gesture at the state Secretariat.
The State Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishanan said, “68 per cent of child births in the state take place in government hospitals and the project would benefit 6.7 lakh newborns.”
Amma Unavagams popularly known as Amma canteens, which serve high quality subsidized food was also been launched by Ms Jayalalithaa earlier which has attracted huge number of people and helped her to win the Lok Sabha polls..
Soon the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister launched many schemes like Amma Pharmacies, Amma Water and Amma Cement to supply essential items at cheaper price, Amma Master Health Check-Up for less than Rs. 1000.
In August 2014 the CM made the announcement of the scheme and now it is into action.As of now Rs 67 crores were allotted for the implementation of the scheme
