Tandoor Case Convict Released On Parole: A convict in Tandoor case as well as the former youth congress leader Sushil Sharma was released on Parole.
Sushil Sharma, a former youth congress leader who was convicted in connection with the Tandoor murder case of 1995 was released on parole from the Tihar Central jail on Friday night.
The Parole was granted three days ago on Tuesday but the convict was not released and a single judge bench of High court asked the authorities for the reason why the convict was not yet released even after three days of parole.
The justice Siddhath Mridul said that the convict should have been released immediately after the parole as he spent nearly twenty years in prison. The justice asked the LG’s officer on special duty Ajay Chaudary to appear before the court to explain the reason for not complying with the courts order.
Ajay chaudhary assured that Sushil will be released as early as possible on Friday.
Shil has filed an appeal in the court contending that as he had spent 20 years in jail and urged the court for pre- mature release in accordance with the guidelinees of the sentence review board.
Hence the court on Tuesday granted a parole to him till his plea was decided by the competent authority.
Sushil was convicted under the charges of murdering his wife brutally Naina Sahni on July 2, 1995. Sushil has shot her with his licensed revolver and he took her body to a restaurant and chopped it into pieces and burnt it in the restaurant’s oven.
After this incident death penalty was awarded to him by a trial court in 2003 which was upheld by the Delhi High Court in 2007. It was later commuted to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court.
