Telangana freedom Day: All political parties in Hyderabad today celebrated Telangana freedom Day to spot the combination of the former Hyderabad state with the Indian Union. The ruling (TRS)Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the main Opposition (TDP)Telugu Desam Party, Congress, (BJP)Bharatiya Janata Party and the remaining parties raised flags at their headquarters.
All political parties in Hyderabad today celebrated ‘Telangana freedom Day’ to spot the combination of the former Hyderabad state with the Indian Union. TRS leader N Narasimha Reddy, who is the State Home Minister, hoisted the Indian flag at Telangana Bhavan, the party head office.
There are some demands, particularly from BJP, that September 17 be officially declared as being ‘Telangana freedom Day’ as it was on this day in 1948 that the region got freedom from Nizam’s rule, 13 months after India gained independence.
TRS celebrated the freedom day at the party level, the government ignored the demands by the BJP and others for official celebrations. Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir reported the day as marking the independence day of Telangana people.
Hyderabad Police made tight security arrangements to avoid any unexpected incident, especially as the day match with the Ganesh Chaturthi. A senior leader of (TDP)Telugu Desam Party, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, criticized TRS for allegedly ignoring the day.
the Telangana Congress chief, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, hoisted the Indian flag at Gandhi Bhavan amidst the presence of other senior party leaders.
