On Friday, PM Modi will visit his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi for the third time since assuming office on his visit PM is scheduled to launch schemes in road and power sectors and meet representatives of UP agitating contractual teachers.
PM who is going on a day-long visit will be distributing e-rickshaws and cycle rickshaws to more than 600 people under the Jan Dhan Yojana initiatives.However, the SP government, on Thursday, voiced its objections to the distribution of cycle-rickshaws, alleging such a move will promote the “inhuman practice” of pulling it. SP demanded Modi cancel the decision to distribute cycle-rickshaws and e-rickshaws. The DM announced that the PM Modi will meet the representatives of ‘shiksha mitras’ during his visit.
Rajmani Yadav, Varanasi District Magistrate and Jogendra Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police at a joint press conference appealed to the contractual teachers to maintain peace as their demand to have an interaction with the PM has been granted.
Six person delegation from the group can meet the PM Modi on Friday, they said, disclosing that a confirmation from the Prime Minister office regarding the meeting was received by DM on Thursday.
“Tight security arrangements have been made for PM s visit and we are fully prepared to foil any such attempts from the agitating shiksha mitras that would lead to law and order crisis here,” they said.
Upset over the cancellation of regularisation of their service following a recent judgement of the Allahabad High Court, district teachers had threatened to stage a protest in Varanasi.
