Special cell of Delhi police arrested two most wanted criminal of Bihar taking shelter in Delhi
Two of the most wanted gangsters of Bihar who were taking shelter in Delhi have been arrested by Special Cell of Delhi police after receiving intelligence inputs ahead of Bihar assembly polls.
The gangsters were identified as 35 year old Gorakh Thakur and 26 years Zakir Ali both hailing from West Champaran district of Bihar.
The Delhi police special cell arrested the two gangsters in two separate operations . Thakur and Ali were arrested in west Delhi’s Rohini and Najafgarh areas respectively on Monday and Sunday.
The duo were wanted in more than 40 criminal cases in Bihar on whom Bihar Police had declared a reward of Rs 50,000 each to those who inform police on their whereabouts. The crimes of the duo include demanding protection money from traders, businessmen, contractors, contract killing, extortion, robberies and dacoities.
Thakur who started his criminal career in 1997 was also involved in smuggling of narcotic drugs and has been arrested for two such cases. He was convicted for 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1 lakh was slapped against him in one such case of NDPS Act. Thakur was hiding in disguise in Ashoknagar since two months.
The police officials reported that Thakur was involved in more than 25 criminal cases and is wanted in five fresh cases. Ali, on the other hand, was also involved in more than 15 cases and is wanted in nine fresh cases.
A senior police official said that the duo might have been in talks with political leaders in Bihar ahead of the elections.
