IS militants are making and using crude chemical weapons including mustard gas in Syria and Iraq, officials of US have warned.
Experts of American weapons say they have found at least four occasions on both sides of the Syria-Iraq border when militants has used mustard gas.
According to the sources, the chemical was being used in powder form, and was made into traditional explosives like mortar rounds by a terror cell which are used in making the weapons.
He said, “They’re using mustard. We know they are. We’ve seen them use it on at least four separate occasions on both sides of the border — both Iraq and Syria. We assess that they have an active chemical weapons little research cell that they’re working on to try and get better at it.”
If those kinds of weapons used that can make mustard-laced dust blisters on the skin.
Experts belives exposure to sulphur mustard usually is not fatal in many cases, but there is no antidote or treatment, that means that the mustard must be removed entirely from the person.
After a UN-backed deal, Syria is supposed to be free of chemical weapons that resulted in the Syrian government hand over 1,180 tonnes of declared precursor chemicals and toxic agents to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
In October, 2013, that process began and was completed by June of the following year.
Since the Syrian civil war began more than 200,000 people have died after anti-government protests in early 2011 but only a small amount of deaths are believed to have been caused by chemical weapons.
