The Central Bureau has raided 40 premises in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh as part of investigation of Vyapam Scam.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has raided around 40 locations in Madhya Pradesh in connection with the investigation into Vyapam Scam including the premises that belonged to former technical education minister Laxmikant Sharma.
This is first major step taken by CBI after the Vyapam Scam was taken over by CBI two months ago. It is reported that the raids have been carried out at 40 locations in Bhopal, Rewa, Jabalpur, Indore Madhya Pradesh and Lucknow and Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh simultaneously.
However the Central Bureau of Investigation has not disclosed the further details like which and whose premises were raided and what they have found from the raids etc.,
Several people were killed in connection with the vyapam scam after which a special team called ‘Special Vyapam Scam Zone’ has been set upto look into the scam and a manpower of 500 officers were deployed to interrogate the scam.
Around 107 cases pertaining to the corruption and 50 cases in regard to the suspected deaths in connection with the manmoth scam and names of more than 2000 accused have been registered till now which is a major task for the existing force to investigate and so the additional forces have to be deployed to investigate the case.
The CBI urged the Supreme Court to grant and deploy additional power as it is becoming very difficult to solve the case with the existing force.
The CBI urged to sanction 496 posts including 36 head constables, 18 assistant sub-inspectors, 63 inspectors, 108 constables, 36 inspectors, 18 DSPs, 9 ASPs, 9 SPs and three DIGs.
83 FIRs have been registered so far by CBI and 12 preliminary inquiries were launched into the Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam), or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.
