With rumour mills also rife about Xiaomi launching the Mi 5 this year, multiple technical specs of the smartphone have surfaced. Going by these reports, Mi 5 should feature:
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC
16MP rear camera
5MP front camera
16GB internal storage.
Currently, Xiaomi’s latest mid-range smartphone, Mi 4C, is available to pre-order from countries outside of China, including the UK, US and India. But the pre-orders are via unofficial third-party e-tailers such as GearBest.
Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi, which recently released the high-end Redmi Note 2, is rumoured to continue its smartphone-launching spree in 2015. It is expected to launch two additional handsets in November.
One would be the Mi Note 2, succeeding the first-gen Mi Note released in January 2015 and currently on sale, according to several reports citing the Chinese technology tipster Leaksfly (on Weibo). Leaksfly has hinted that the Mi Note 2 could be launched as early as 5 November.
The Mi5 is also highly rumoured to be launched before the end of the year. This handset is said to be a successor to Xiaomi’s popular Mi4 and the “global” Mi4i devices.
Various technical specifications of the purported Mi Note 2 have also surfaced. According to SoftPedia, the smartphone will feature a comparatively-large 5.7in Quad HD display, and have 4GB RAM. The smartphone’s 32GB internal storage is said to be fixed.
Mi Note 2 is also rumoured to run Google’s latest Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system [See the list of devices confirmed to get Android M OS update, here]. A 16MP rear camera and a metallic outer body could be other features of the smartphone. LTE compatibility should also be offered to users, considering the fact that the wireless technology is fast evolving in emerging economies around the world.
